Defense Units are a balancing game mechanic that allow only a certain number of defenses to be placed on a given map.
In maps, the number of Defense Units available are indicated by a number next to the rook icon. The number indicates Defense Units Remaining/Total Defense Units Available.
If you attempt to place a defense that would increase the amount of used Defense Units on a map beyond it's maximum, a message reading "Insufficient Defense Units" will be displayed on your screen. The defense will have a red coloring indicating that it cannot be placed.
When placing or inspecting defenses, the number of Defense Units that are used/required are indicated by a number next to the rook icon.
