Game modes are different settings that changes how you play through a map.
Each gamemode and map has a difficulty selection, being Easy, Medium, Hard, Insane, Nightmare, and Massacre. These difficulties have recommended and required levels in order to help get you started.
- Easy : Recommended upto level 35
- Medium : Recommended upto level 35
- Hard : Recommend between 30 to 50
- Insane : Recommended between 45 to 60
- Nightmare : Requires at least level 60, Introduction to Transcedent Gear
- Massacre : Requires at least level 80, Introduction to Godly Gear
You cannot access a map of a higher difficulty or map you have not completed previously. If you have completed Alchemical Labs on Hard you cannot access Tornado Valley on Insane until you have completed the map before on the same difficulty or higher. As well as if you haven't completed the map Alchemical Labs you cannot access Tornado Valley until it has been completed.
- Campaign is the core aspect of unlocking all of the maps with in the game.
- This gamemode can be timed when above Insane and Hardcore difficulty is selected.
- Maps are limited to small sets of mana that can be used for building.
- You will have 5 waves to complete each map.
- Survival is considered the main way of upgrading your gear.
- You will be faced with enemies from the starting waves of the map until wave 25.
- You can be awarded with better gear from each wave and their chests. There are guarenteed drops for certain difficulties and items on waves 15 and wave 25, some of which are map specific.
- Boss maps will spawn the boss on wave 25 with scaled health.
- Endless is accessible after completing the map on wave 25, and wishing to continue with the map. Endless mode gradually grows in difficulty as the waves progress.
- After each set of 5 waves, you will be given a chest with the same drops as a wave 25 chest for the map.
- Every 5 waves on boss maps will spawn the boss with scaled health.
- Challenges are map specific challenges that increase the difficulty of gameplay.
- These challenges reward you with challenge specific items.
- Currently 12 challenge maps are available.
- Mix Mode is very similar to Survival. The main difference between Survival and Mix Mode is the endless mode and enemy line up.
- Mix Mode introduces the skeleton enemy which can resummon itself but not damage your crystal.
- The enemy line up is a randomized set of lanes for each map, enemies that normally would not spawn at a gate will be able to now. All enemies can spawn at any gate with the exception for Wyverns, Ogre-Copters, Air gates.
- Bosses do continue to spawn as well on wave 25.
- There is a 6% loot increase in loot quality.
- Pure Strategy, this game mode focuses primarly on defenses. You will be forced to defend with just your defenses.
- You will not be able to shoot, use abilities, build, or repair/sell during the battle phases, pets will not work either.
- You will be allowed to upgrade, loot, and gather mana during the battle phase.
- During build phases you are allowed to repair, sell, and rebuild your defenses.
- Bosses do not spawn on wave 25.
You can only enter Tests by yourself.
- Tests are ways of challenging bosses by themselves. You can pick from 2 heros in your hero deck before fighting the boss and their summoned creatures.
- The heros in the hero deck are preset and the same every time. Gear on each hero are given specific gear that will help defeat the boss you choose to fight.
- You will be timed for each boss fight and have limited lives.
- Upon completion of a test, you will be awarded a costmetic wings that can be used as a transmog for your characters.
You can only enter the Tutorial by yourself.
- Tutorial will start you in the map Deeper Well on Medium difficulty.
- You will have subobjectives displayed for performing basic gameplay which most of them are optional.
- Upon completion of the Tutorial you will be awarded the Summoner's Hood in the final chest (Can be used for transmog).
- Hardcore (Available in Campaign, Survival, Challenges and Mix Mode) increases the difficulty and prevents respawning during the battle phase.
- Once a player has died in this difficulty, they must wait until the end of the wave in order to respawn.
- There is a 15% loot increase in loot quality in easy - hard.
- There is a 20% loot increase in loot quality in insane.
- There is a 25% loot increase in loot quality in nighmare and massacre.
- Rifted (Available in Campaign, Survival, Mix Mode, Pure Strategy) increases the difficulty and allows the spawning of rifted creatures.
- Rifted creatures take less damage to non-fusion gear but double damage when hit by fusion.
- There is a 10% loot increase in loot quality.
Bonus difficulties follow the difficulty of the Act's Finale map. Once a player has completed Survival / Mixmode wave 25 of Act's Finale they will have the Bonus Difficulty of that Act and Gamemode unlocked (Have to do it separately for Survival and Mixmode).
Players with the Bonus Difficulties unlocked can have the Boss specific difficulty used for maps before the unlocked map. If a player were to complete Alchemical Labs on survival being wave 25, they can use the Demon Lord's Bonus Difficulty for Deeper Well. These Bonus Difficulties scale the map to the Boss Difficulty selected.

Obtained after beating the The Summit on Nightmare / Massacre Survival / Mixmode
- Lycan King, Act 4
Obtained after beating the The Keep on Nightmare / Massacre Survival / Mixmode
- Dune Eater, Act 5
Obtained after beating the The Forsaken Temple on Nightmare / Massacre Survival / Mixmode
